Abstract :
DTS technology is well established and is a proven technology in providing real time temperature monitoring on high voltage power transmission and distribution circuits. The technology has been adopted for this purpose by many electric utilities throughout the world. DTS technology is particularly well suited to monitoring underground circuits, whenever cables are located in cable tunnels, duct banks, directly buried or submarine. DTS technology has made considerable improvements since its initial introduction to the power industry. The end users´ experience of DTS has driven demand for further advancements in the core DTS technology. This paper outlines some of the key technology advancements made and also clarifies some current misconceptions about DTS technology.
