Abstract :
The effect of the mixer phase distortions on the adaptive direction-of-arrival (DOA) tracking algorithm is investigated. The study shows that the DOA tracking algorithm is not sensitive to the mixer phase distortions. Hence the mixer phase calibration is not required for a system applying the DOA tracking algorithm. The equivalent DOA tracking error due to the mixer phase distortions is derived. Also the performance of the system applying the DOA tracking algorithm is compared with that of the system applying other algorithms in terms of the bit error rate (BER) under additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and Rayleigh fading environments. Simulation results are given to support the conclusions
