Abstract
A novel common data link (CDL) radio frequency electronics (RFE) architecture is proposed. This new architecture, called the split isolation RFE, eliminates the necessity of a waveguide diplexer, potentially reducing the size, weight and cost of the RFE by more than 50%. The split isolation RFE architecture is contrasted with the traditional RFE architecture. The method of analysis of isolation and noise for the split isolation RFE is presented and contrasted with the method of analysis for the traditional architecture. Finally, the applications and limitations of the split isolation RFE are addressed
