Abstract
High rate neutron counting is achieved minimizing the dead-time of the counting chain. The paper highlights that sometimes too short shaping time constants give rise to double pulses at the output of the discriminator for a single neutron. Therefore the shaping time must be optimized in order to minimize the dead-time but avoiding counting errors. Simulations and experimental results on a 3He chain at different shaping time constants are presented and discussed
