Abstract :
A new method for the 3-D reconstruction of the head based on the run length technique is presented for mapping the electrical brain activity on the real scalp of the patient. The process is performed in three steps. First, a binarization of the image is obtained from the analysis of the histogram; then, the noise is eliminated with a morphologic filter and finally a run length technique is employed to fill the head and at the same time clear up the remaining noise. After the sampling of the contour, the head is displayed. Electrical brain mapping is based on spherical spline interpolation with the best-fitting sphere on the real head and represented over the scalp
