Abstract :
This paper deals with the techniques to derive an image of the internal permittivity of Comet Wirtanen (46P/Wirtanen) from the CONSERT experiment in ESA´s Rosetta cometary mission. First, the theoretical limits of the inversion are explored for the present configuration of the experiment, showing there is some degree of ambiguity. Then, a possible variation of the experiment is proposed to essentially eliminate the ambiguity at the expense of an increased data rate and a new operating mode. Finally, inversion techniques are proposed both for the new and the old operating modes
