  • Abstract
An integral equation method is presented to estimate the electromagnetic performance of a printed antenna embedded in a composite substrate loaded with a metallic screen used for the lightning protection of an aircraft. Expressing the electric surface current density on the metallic screen in appropriate periodic functions and the small local disturbance caused by the printed antenna in terms of discrete basis functions, the integral equations with these currents as unknowns are developed. The unknown currents on the periodic metallic screen and the printed antenna are determined by application of the method of moments. The electromagnetic performance parameters such as the input impedance and radiation patterns of printed antenna are studied.
