Abstract :
In this work the performance and accuracy of semi-empirical models to retrieve soil roughness and soil moisture from high resolution airborne E-SAR data, were compared. Different approaches are evaluated and compared with respect to their applicability and accuracy. The potential and the limitations of the compared methods as well as the compatibility of the derived results are discussed. For the validation of the estimated parameters detailed soil-moisture and roughness ground truth data for different seasonal conditions have been used
