Abstract :
The authors present a microprocessor drive control with the following features: simple, rugged power circuit design; user-friendly programming and operation; onboard record-keeping; extensive interactive diagnostics; and ability for two-way serial communications. The principles developed can be extended to all types of power circuit topologies. The authors have developed a communication protocol strategy that is flexible and adaptable to distributed control networks. Its successful implementation has been documented in a large air-handling application.<>
