Abstract
The growing use of wireless devices has forced the need of larger bandwidths. This calls for a result of larger bit-rates or the use of different standards using different frequency bands. The ultra-wideband (UWB) system has attracted as a system because it can realize a bit rate of several hundred Mbit/s. But the main difficulty is to design a suitable antenna for a UWB system. This work presents a novel wideband printed bow-tie antenna at UWB communication frequency of 3.1-10.6 GHz. The antenna is designed on an inexpensive printed circuit board to keep the product cheap. A coplanar strip (CPS) fed with appropriate matching has been used.
