Abstract
Speckle appearing in SAR images as a granular noise must be reduced for best image classification and interpretation. In this paper, two techniques for speckle reduction are presented, they are the adaptive prediction technique and the multiresolution thresholding technique. When taking into account the compromise between speckle reduction and texture preservation, some limitations in term of rate of speckle reduction are observed. In order to improve results, an efficient algorithm combining the two separate techniques is presented
