Abstract
Development of a robust noncontact inspection system for welding of large parts is described. The system will dimensionally tolerance parts and will modify an oxyacetylene cutting path to conform to the actual part position and orientation. ALIS allows better control of the welded components of a product line. Control of the overall dimensions and robotic weld bevel cutting, based on the actual dimensions of the parts, provides better quality welds with less rework. Other applications of the large-part gauging abilities of ALIS are being explored.<>
