Abstract :
We report the growth of a low-loss Cdl-xMnxTe waveguide on GaAs (001) substrate by MBE method. Substrate cleaning with atomic hydrogen and amorphous Cd predeposition were used. During 5 min of cleaning at substrate temperature 400 °C the reflection high-energy electron diffraction (RHEED) pattern evolves from a dot pattern to streaky pattern. A high intensity RHEED pattern with more than 10 diffraction lines and without any 3D features were observed at the end of cleaning. The obtained magneto-optic figure-of-merit is 150 deg/dB under magnetic field of 5 kG, which is enough high for practical application
