Abstract :
A set of innovative nonmetallic materials having EM (electromagnetic) shielding properties has been selected. Available data on shielding effectiveness of nonmetallic materials are incomplete and not easily comparable. Therefore, a common testing methodology has been chosen based on a double TEM (transverse electromagnetic) cell, in order to obtain comparable and repeatable data. The measurement set-up is easily reproducible and does not affect the results. A large number of specimens, have been tested. The effects on shielding effectiveness due to aging and environmental stresses (temperature, humidity, salt fog, etc.) have been evaluated through a comparison of experimental results. It was found that environmental stresses have a significant effect on the shielding effectiveness of composite materials
