Abstract :
Passive broadband sonar are important equipments to detect and trace targets at or below the surface. However, these capabilities can be degraded in the presence of strong active sonar pulses. To study active pulses´ acoustic disturbance to passive detection, a passive sonar simulator is designed and implemented. Its main modules and signal processing methods used are described. The contribution to the overall influence, made by various factors, including passive sonar´s integration time, active pulses´ signal strength, pulse width and pulse cycle, etc. are investigated through several simulation experiments conducted using the simulator. The results are also given.
