Abstract
Several design approaches for frequency multipliers based on active three-terminal devices are summarized. A 2.5-to-10 GHz frequency quadrupler, which was constructed by direct cascade of two doublers - a 2.5-to-5 GHz BJT doubler and a 5-to-10 GHz pHEMT doubler, was designed and analyzed. Multiplier behaviors predicted by harmonic balance simulation are checked for consistence with the published design criteria.
