Abstract :
In D. Middleton´s model of non-Gaussian interference, almost all electromagnetic interference (EMI) environments can be ascribed to three classes: class A or coherent interference, producing negligible transients in the receiver; class B, impulsive or incoherent interference in the receiver, represented by overlapping transients: and class C, which equals class A+class B in various proportions. New results of a simplified approximation of Middleton´s distribution of non-Gaussian interference for application to EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) problems are presented. These results provide simplified statistical-physical models of the EMI environment on moving platforms (ships, aircraft, etc.) as well as more general sources of the EMC problem in question
