Abstract :
The authors describe test results and magnetic field failure levels for several different CRT (cathode ray tube) displays. They attempted to determine what effects, if any, low line voltage has on the magnetic field susceptibility levels. Personal computer CRTs are shown to be susceptible to 60 Hz magnetic fields as low as 20 milligauss. Color monitors with 60 Hz vertical sweeps are less susceptible to 60 Hz, due to the effects of synchronization. Both types of monitors would be about equally susceptible at 50 Hz, since neither was synchronized to 50 Hz. There appears to be no `schmoo´ effect between low line voltages and magnetic field susceptibility on the units tested
