Abstract :
The dynamic stability criterion derived from the approximated model does not provide an estimate of the critical external feedback level in agreement with that obtained from the rigorous model. Therefore, the approximated model does not provide accurate design guidelines of dynamically stable external cavity lengths (ECLs) in the strong optical feedback regime, and its use should be avoided. Conversely, the rigorous model may be used, as a first approach, in the design of stable fiber grating semiconductor lasers
