Abstract
The improvement of semiconductor technology is identified as the primary technology thrust for the 90´s. Its impact on computer and other communication needs and thus spectrum requirements is investigated. The improvements in information compression and channel efficiency due to semiconductor technology are explored as a means of offsetting spectrum demand. System architecture trends and associated spectrum management policies which will be responsive to these developments are also discussed
