Abstract :
This paper presents a design for a broadband, multielement, top-loaded monopole. The antenna is similar to the well-known Goubau antenna, but has an undivided loading disk, folded parallel strip vertical elements with dielectric loading, and an additional radiating element centered under the top-disk. These modifications allow more versatility in tuning and extend the high frequency end of the response. A bandwidth of two octaves (380-1530 MHz) for 2:1 VSWR has been obtained for an antenna with a height of 6.6 cm, a diameter of 18.3 cm, and no external tuning elements.
