Abstract
Computational algorithms, based on root locus theory, for calculating control system stability limits and parameter settings, so as to make the system poles to have specified decay rates or damping ratios, are presented. The algorithms were implemented as MATLAB commands, and the test results were satisfactory. A computer program with these algorithms gives the user great freedom to try several parameter settings, because the calculations are performed automatically. The work includes an example whereby the usefulness and effectiveness of the algorithms are demonstrated
