Abstract
In this paper we deal with the problem of synchronizing multimedia streams in a communication environment comprising both wired and wireless networks. The factors related to terminal mobility which have to be taken into account in the design of an intra/intermedia synchronization mechanism are briefly highlighted and user-perceived quality of service parameters are also introduced. The paper then focuses on a synchronization technique based on the use of compensation buffers at the interface between the wired and wireless networks
