Abstract :
This paper describes development of a testbed that allows for characterization of IPv6 networks and applications. Testing applications across large, next-generation communication networks is a high cost effort, which may be prohibitive to organizations or programs on limited budgets. In such cases, it would be desirable to study the effects of communications channels using a simulated network to provide transport for application packets (in this case, using OPNET). This testbed incorporates TCP and UDP server applications and live IT equipment (routers, switches, servers, etc.) at the edges of a virtual network simulation in the center in order to study and optimize performance and responsiveness to the applications under test
