Abstract :
Online Social Networking sites are getting much popular day by day. Well known sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Orkut and Google+ have millions of users across the globe. The user base of facebook alone is more than 1.23 Billion. With the wide popularity of the Online Social Networks (OSN) in India, the numbers of users of these OSN are increasing tremendously in India as well as around the globe. This paper analyses some of the factors including reasons for joining OSN, behavior of users regarding friends, groups, access pattern of the user, time spend on OSN, effect of OSN on personal life etc. User´s attitude and behavior based on surveyed data from more than seven hundred users using a questionary consisting 27 questions focusing the behavior of Indian users in the areas of usability trends and access of Online Social Networks. As per the literature survey done by us this is the first of its kind of work to analyze the Indian population´s usability trend and behavior in OSN.
