Abstract
There are many applications, such as Web access or FTP, widely used in the Internet which involve substantially larger flow of data in one direction than in the other one, and they take advantage of the existence of asymmetric links. Some previous studies on TCP have demonstrate its throughput degradation over asymmetric networks, and various mechanisms have been proposed to improve its performance. However, when the asymmetric link is in a wireless environment, where there are many packet losses due to errors, the effectiveness of these mechanisms is reduced. We propose an end-to-end mechanism for TCP based on the congestion window prediction and we show its performance in presence of errors by means of simulation
