Abstract
In the head-positioning control of hard disk drives, the measurement sampling period cannot be changed. However, it is possible to select control period arbitrarily. Therefore, multi-rate control can improve the control performance without changing the measurement sampling period. Thus, this paper proposes a design method of multi-rate head-positioning controller for hard disk drives using H∞ control based on discrete-time lifting technique. The effectiveness of the method has been shown by simulation and experimental results.
