Abstract :
The future cellular systems are seen to support mixed traffic, and even multimedia services. However, the characteristics of voice and data mixture require distinguished service mechanisms and quality of services. In order to transfer high-speed data rate, multislot services can be implemented under the present systems with the least compromising voice services. This paper analyses the performance of narrowband voice calls and multiple-slot data packets in such systems by using a matrix-analytic approach for quadratic convergence, incorporating with mobility in prioritized cellular systems. The voice blocking probability, data packets throughput, delay and waiting time distribution are derived respectively. Moreover, a multiple priority-based control scheme is enforced so as to mitigate the queueing congestion of data packets. The numerical result derived from this study shows that larger data packets incur longer latency and the use of this flexible scheme can improve the performance of data packets through optimal biasing classifications
