Abstract :
Two dimensional phased array radar can scan electronically in two directions of azimuth and elevation. It is the main developing direction of phased array radar. Beam control subsystem is an important part of phased array radar, and it controls the radiation units to achieve the goal of electrical scan. In certain two dimensional phased array radar, the beam control subsystem´s main characteristic is that it is divided into multi-levels, which makes the system flexible and convenient to be extended. Each level of the subsystem confronts different radiation units array and is an independent unit. This paper gives a detailed description of the compositions, functions, main technologies and hardware implementation of this beam control subsystem. For raising the performance of the radar, the number of radiation units is becoming more and more, where the request for the Beam control subsystem is more and more difficult to meet.
