Abstract :
A technique is described which excites a bolus of spins in a central location of the vessel of interest and measures the distance it travels in a given time. Average velocity is then easily calculated as distance divided by time. Velocity measurements are made at 8-12 point during the cardiac cycle and plotted against time. The delay for optimal velocity can then be selected and programmed into the angiographic sequence. The total time for the time-of-flight velocity measuring technique and angiogram is approximately 8 min.<>
