Abstract :
In this paper, a new structure of smart antenna with pencil beam pattern is presented. The new structure produces the pencil beam pattern with traditional uniform linear antenna array and estimates the DOA of source with a sub-array of it, i.e. nonuniform linear antenna array. The simulation results show that the new structure loses little DOA estimation performance, whereas it simplifies the complexity of smart antenna and saves many hardware and much computational time.
