Abstract
A concept for broadband wide area networking based on the use asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) broadcast over extremely high frequency (EHF) Ka-band satellite communication (SATCOM) via code division multiple access (CDMA) is presented. The concept provides for a high data rate forward link and a low data rate return. It is primarily intended to support services such as broadcast of data and video, fast Internet access and teleconsultation with interactive white board. Operation from mid-size terminals at a corporate headquarters to small highly transportable terminals at remote facilities is envisioned
