Abstract :
We established an expert advisory system utilizing store and forward teledermatology to allow communication and consultation between physicians with expertise in the rare inherited skin disease Ichthyosis and physicians caring for afflicted patients. We analyzed experts´ behavior and involvement in case consultation by calculating key variables, accessing comment structures and quality, and applying concepts from the field of social networking. Preliminary findings suggest that a user-oriented tele-consultation system for dermatology benefits from active participation, detailed case description, sufficient images and good leadership of case moderators.
