Abstract :
A design methodology dedicated to a wireless communications module for telemetry in civil infrastructure monitoring is proposed. Particular attention is paid to the design decisions concerning the individual wireless communications blocks, i.e. the protocol, the modem, and the RF block. A design example based on the use of a commercial development kit is detailed. A simulation software, designed for evaluation of the wireless communications module, is developed and tested. The results of evaluation are presented. Some conclusions are drawn concerning the applicability of the proposed methodology for designing a specific wireless communications module for various telemetry systems
