Abstract :
In response to the changes that have and still are taking place in undergraduate education at the Colorado School of Mines (USA), the authors describe how they are undertaking innovative pedagogical approaches to better cope with this new reality. One of these approaches is the development of a five year Masters program where physics students finish with a Bachelors in engineering physics and a Masters in engineering systems. A goal of this program is to make the transition from undergraduate to graduate seamless and painless to both the students and faculty
