  • Abstract
The impact of group delay ripple (GDR) and reflectivity ripple (RR) in chirped Bragg fibre grating (CBFG) dispersion compensators is studied using a system simulation which calculates the eye closure penalty due to GDR and RR. Using this model system penalties due to the inter-action of random and systematic ripple with transmitter chirp, and bit rate, are studied for optical systems with multiple concatenated gratings
