Abstract
Two methods have been developed for connecting enterprise ATM networks using the PNNI protocol via a public ATM network using the B-ISUP protocol. One converts only the PNNI signalling protocol into the B-ISUP protocol. The other fully supports both the PNNI signalling and routing protocols in the B-ISUP network. The first method is more suitable during the early stages of supporting the PNNI protocol over a B-ISUP network; the other is more suitable for supporting a large number of PNNI networks. How to implement the proposed methods is described in detail. These methods enable economical and seamless connection of enterprise ATM networks via a public ATM network
