            Abstract :
We develop or new maximum-likelihood method for modulation classification of digital amplitude-phase modulations, applicable to any constellation-based modulation types in an AWGN environment. Under reasonable assumptions, the method is tractable to theoretical performance analysis, something lacking by many existing modulation classification methods. The classifier performance for a variety of modulations is analyzed and the theoretical results are compared with simulations.
