Abstract :
The process of intelligence analysis is governed by the economic principles that govern other types of group intellectual work such as engineering and software development. According to these principles, adding more people to a group project ultimately results in diseconomies of scale. The onset of diseconomies of scale can be delayed by better group collaboration. Elimination of this economic reality, however, can be achieved only if information technology generates a positive feedback loop such that a better intelligence base creates greater analyst productivity. A model is proposed to achieve such positive feedback. While this model works in theory, attempts to utilize relational databases to implement it have failed. In this paper, we propose a different model, the contiguous connection modeltrade (CCM), to obtain positive feedback and eliminate, or at least substantially flatten, the diseconomies of scale
