Abstract
A novel image processing method called morphological automation, associated with an integrated device (gel swallowing), is proposed to automate the reading of DNA electrophoretic gels. It has been evaluated on the Mason-Pfizer-Monkey virus sequence. Up to 96.6% of the bases were found to be identical to the published sequence. Another algorithm permits reconstruction the entire DNA sequence.<>
