Abstract
A design method of companding systems based on the quasi-quadratic MOST large-signal characteristics in strong inversion is presented. Applying a new synthesis approach, a generic current-mode square-root-domain system is derived from its corresponding Gm-C prototype by a component-to-component substitution. Practical nonlinear blocks for implementing the required nonlinear functions are proposed, and subsequently, a square-root-domain biquad is thoroughly studied
