Abstract
A conventional optical microscope has been improved to obtain faster, continuous measurement automatically. A digitized microscope system has been developed by adding an image acquisition subsystem, an (x, y)-axes controller for the stage, and a z-axis controller for focusing. The system is supervised by a microcomputer. A simple automatic focusing algorithm is discussed.<>
