Abstract :
There are two licenses, 12.5 MHz (bandwidth) each, in the S-band for broadcasting music and other programming to motorists throughout the United States of America. One proposal for the broadcast system is to have two satellites covering the continental USA at any given time. There will also be terrestrial repeaters in cities where the mobiles cannot see the two satellites. We investigate issues concerning the design of the channel codes, and the sizes and dimensions of the interleavers for this system in additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN), Rician and Rayleigh fading channels
