Abstract :
The ad hoc wireless LAN technologies will be extensively used in the near future. The access techniques of these technologies can be classified into two categories. The first is RTS/CTS access method or CSMA/CA access protocol, and the other is spread-spectrum multiple-access (SSMA) or code-division multiple-access (CDMA) access mode. Especially, CDMA is used in wireless networks commonly and extensively. One of the most important traffic characteristics of real wireless LANs is that all packets are transmitted in some specific sequences, so-called flows. The main purpose of this paper is to propose a multiple access architecture for an ad hoc flow-oriented wireless LAN and a new medium access control protocol for the CDMA access mode with collision-free performance. The central role of our proposed multiple access architecture is one spreading code control server (SPCCS). Serious performance evaluations of our approach are conducted in the ideal case and real situation. Our multiple access architecture and protocol achieve very high performance
