Abstract
Next generation networks require an efficient route optimization scheme, optimized specially to support network mobility. The paper proposes a Mobile IPv6 based route optimization technique to reduce the overhead and enhance the performance of a mobile network. The proposed scheme uses root Mobile Router (top level MR in the nested network) to perform route optimization on behalf of all active mobile network nodes and is more efficient than the Network Mobility Basic Support protocol. It effectively reduces unnecessary large traveling route and overhead, thereby enhances performance.
