Abstract
This paper presents the Differential Evolution optimization technique application to the determination of FACTS device placement. Its performance on the FACTS placement problem is compared with the other selected techniques which are the use of sensitivity index and the Genetic Algorithm. In this paper, the estimation of network performance index sensitivity with respect to the TCSC parameter is proposed as the calculation technique is improved for easier implementation in practical. All considered techniques are tested on the 5-bus test system and the IEEE 24 buses RTS. The results show the advantages of the Differential Evolution technique over the other selected techniques. Therefore, it is good alternative for implementation on the determination of FACTS allocation.
