Abstract :
A multimedia taxonomy is proposed to provide a conceptual framework for multimedia based upon various media attributes. The taxonomy is expressed as a three-dimensional framework made up of fifteen different attributes related to the type, expression and context of using different media. The value of the taxonomy as a tool for the research, design and evaluation of multimedia systems is discussed. Examples of how the taxonomy has been used as a tool at various stages of multimedia development and evaluation are described
