Abstract :
Eddy-current retarder braking moment, power loss and hot decline are the most important parameter to measure performance of retarder, it is a technical problem that the retarder´s continuous braking moment is affected by hot decline at present. In order to solve hot decline question of eddy-current retarder from mechanism, this article determined torque and power loss parameters of two kind of models (B5-12, M7-30) under the different vehicle speed and obtained characteristic curve of torque and the power loss and hot decline curve distribution map to B5-12, the M7-30 . Has drawn three conclusions from the distributions :Frist, the eddy current retarder´s braking torque increases along with vehicle speed increases and declines gradually after reaching maximum torque points, Second, power loss and vehicle speed become a linear relationship approximately, Finally, braking torque tends to definite value when rotor achieves thermal equilibrium. It provides the important reference for people to carry on improving structure for enhancing braking moment and researching hot decline mechanism.
