Abstract :
The meso-scale structure of the rainstorm precipitation over the southern Shanxi province in August, 1998, is analyzed by use of 2A25 data derived from TRMM/PR. The results show that the rainfall processes is the mixed convective type and stratiform, and the convective heavy rainfall belt is in northwest-southeast direction, with a significant angle to that of cold front, the convective heavy rain is in meso-β scale. Though the top height of the convective cloud tower, about 12km, is lower than that observed in south China and tropical areas, both the convective precipitation intensity are almost the same. The importance of the detailed horizontal structure in the disaster exploration and prediction is also discussed.
