Abstract :
This paper presents a simple and low power octa-phase VCO for a direct conversion 5 GHz WLAN receiver. Octa-phased outputs are generated simply by coupling four identical differential LC VCOs. The VCO is good for low power and wideband applications, because it is without lossy and narrow-banded phase shift network. Designed in 0.18 μm CMOS technology, the VCO achieves tuning range from 2.28 to 2.79 GHz, and simulated phase noise is better than -110 dBc/Hz at most of tuning frequency.
